Visiting with Olympic 4x4 Products

Article written by Moab Man

Date Added: 05/10/2009

While taking our lunch break on the Dome Plateau Trail, we chatted with Eric Lichtbach, President, Olympic 4x4 Products. Of course we had to see some of the great new stuff Eric had brought with him for the Easter Jeep Safari 2009.

Olympic 4x4 Products showed us three of their innovative products for the Jeep JK: Sliding Cargo Rack, Smuggler Front Bumper, and our favorite... the Smuggler Tire Carrier & Bumper.
Olympic JK Cargo Rack
Many of us have added a cargo rack to our Jeeps. Olympic 4x4 Products has taken the cargo rack to the next generation in both form and function.

Olympic Smuggler Bumper (front)
Making our way around to the front of the Olympic JK, we checked out the Olympic Smuggler Bumper.

Our thoughts? Brilliant use what is otherwise dead space. And the locking lid allows for secure storage.

Olympic Tire Carrier & Smuggler Bumper
We saved the best for last. While we let the videos do the talking on the other products, we want to take the lead on this one.

Lifting an off-road tire can be difficult. The size, dimensions, and sheer weight make lifting a 35?+ tire a daunting task. And don't forget while you're in a full contact wrestle, heaving a tire that weights better than half of your body weight up to chest level, you still have to line up the studs on the carrier with the holes on the wheels.

I don't care how manly you believe you are... removing a tire, or replacing it on the carrier, is no easy task. This tire carrier will prevent strain injuries, keep our seasoned wheelers on the trail, help the disabled remain capable, and make sure all you ladies stay independent.

Final Thoughts

While Olympic had some really great products this year, we especially want to thank them for their revolutionary tire carrier. Many readers will say it is about time a tire carrier was made to address the difficulty of changing large off-road tires. With 37?-40? tires being the norm this year in Moab, Olympic?s tire carrier couldn?t come soon enough.

Our Thank You's!

Thanks to Eric for hanging out with us during EJS and taking the time to share Olympic?s new products with our readers.
